How to Help Your Children Think Like Business Owners

We made it 2021. To say 2020, was ALOT is an understatement. However, I am thankful for all the beautiful that has come from being limited to being in the home. Many families are still at home full time; all while, working full-time, homeschooling, and trying to make the best of our new normal. Putting things in perspective, I won’t complain. We are healthy, have continued to have food on our table, and launched Aspen and Chandler’s books, I still can’t believe it.

To say that today is a good day is an understatement. Yesterday, we witnessed history being made. We have the first Female Vice President of the United States, and she is a woman of color. It gives me joy to see the excitement of Aspen when she learned Kamala Harris was running for Vice President and she looked like her. This just put more fuel in her fire. This solidifies what I am constantly telling her that she can be or do anything she wants to do in life. Speaking of that, shortly after we finalized our books, we brainstormed on creating a pajama line to accompany the Childrens books. I mean, what better way to read a book before bed.

That was it. That was our slogan. Then came Jammie Joy. Being able to have more time at home has truly allowed this King family to unleash some talents. It’s allowed me to push myself and practice what I preach to my kids. Am I nervous? Absolutely. But with that nervousness comes inspiration, determination, and a will to succeed and open doors for my children and others. With everything we do, we are encouraging literacy. Now we have book and jammies to go hand and hand.

So what’s my point. When your kid tells you of their new idea, listen to them. Ask questions to allow them to open up and share the why behind. Next, be their biggest cheerleader. Once you plant the seed, watch it grow. Soon that awesome kid of yours will be running their own company and taking over. Our kids are the future and the new business owners.
