Truth be told, before the babies came, I was a doggy mommy.
I didn’t grow up with any pets in our Black Brady Bunch, so having a baby with four-feet, or a dog, was both new and cool for me. Justice was always hanging out with us and he was officially my workout partner.
When I found out that I was expecting my first child, I wanted the transition from doggie to baby to be smooth, genuine, and safe. The first thing I did was enroll in a class at my local hospital for expecting parents called “Dogs and Babies.” It was just what I needed to figure out how to introduce the baby to the dog and not have any jealousy from Justice.
Once Aspen was born, hubbs brought her first onesie home for Justice to play with, smell, and ultimately get acquainted to her scent. This was amazing for me! Justice held on to that onesie for months. He welcomed Aspen and we never experienced any aggression or jealousy from him. He loved his little sister dearly.
I also followed the same plan when Chandler was born. Justice was their big brother whom they loved dearly until he passed away in February 2020. Now we’ve welcomed a new addition to the family. Meet Winter Sky King. She is just what we needed. Sweet, loving, and the perfect size for Aspen and Chander, and it was the two of them, whom picked her out. Have no fear momma, having your doggy welcome your baby into your home is all in the planning. You got this.
